MIR is an initiative of MIOT Hospitals in collaboration with the Regenerative Medicine Program, University Hospital, Zurich, Switzerland, headed by Prof. Dr. Simon Hoerstrup in the same hospital. Prof. Dr.Omana Trentz, the former Chief of Osteogenesis Laboratory and Bone Research, University Hospital, Zurich, is the director in MIR.

MIOT Institute of Research was established in August 2007 to explore the potential of stem cell research. MIR is focusing on stem cell therapy, that means to create compatible specific cells from stem cells, that can replace cells and tissue damaged by injury, aging, or disease. We are culturing cells from the same individual and reintroduce it to the same individual to avoid immune reactions and transmission of infectious diseases.
